Gallery Steinsland Berliner was established in 2008 by Jeanette Steinsland and Jacob Kampp Berliner.
Gallery Steinsland Berliner is a contemporary art gallery based in Stockholm since 2008. The gallery is built on communal effort and a desire to premiere integrity and inspiration. With foundational ties to all Scandinavian countries, the gallery represents a core group of emerging and established artists with international appeal on a long-term basis. Founded on principles of community, artistic freedom and a DIY-mentality, the gallery originally became a permissive room for emerging and non-traditional artists, many of whom have established themselves as important players on the Scandinavian art scene and beyond.

Mattias Nordéus
Mattias Nordéus is a Swedish artist based in Malmö. Known primarily for his painted wooden sculptures depicting human figures arranged in varying states of action or inaction, Nordéus has been developing his point of view since the early 2000’s resulting in a particular aesthetic which intriguingly manages to be simultaneously nostalgic and modern.
This timelessness can reasonably be explained by his sources of inspiration which include the pixelated graphics of early video game animation, but perhaps more to the point; religious icons and classic compositions and references recognized throughout art history and mythology. Nordéus’ figures are built from pieces of angular solid wood before they are delicately painted by Nordéus who is first and foremost a skilled painter.
Nordéus manages a practice which is consistent in expression but diverse in execution. His sculptures have been scaled up to a height of several meters, such as in a recent public commission in Norway, or reimagined as altarpieces. Nordéus also works in 2-dimesional formats and with digital media. Nordéus holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy.
